How Internet Job-Hunting Has Become Easier Than Ever
The process still consists of the same basic steps. But on the other hand, the Internet has dramatically changed everything. And it's likely things will continue to evolve as the technology dynamically moves forward. According to a poll conducted by outplacement and career transitioning firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn have become the go-to for finding employment, right behind old fashioned networking. Meanwhile, print ads and job fairs received the lowest ratings, when they were once the main resource for candidates and hiring managers.
Social Media
Nothing has had a greater impact on job searches than social media. Suddenly, networking is as easy as clicking a button. Facebook has almost a quarter billion users. Twitter has exploded as a communications tool. LinkedIn, deliberately avoiding the flashiness of its counterparts, has still become the professional platform for business connections and focused profiles. Even Craigslist, with its informal and almost leaderless platform, has become a valuable resource for finding jobs both regionally and nationally.
