There are three resume formats that you can choose from, each with a different purpose that will focus on a specific part of your professional profile.
A functional resume format is a great way to focus on your skills if you are at the starting point of your career and looking for an entry-level position. This ensures that you can overcome your lack of work experience and showcase your other strengths instead.
If you have years of experience in real estate and leasing, choosing a chronological resume format will allow you to focus the largest part of your resume around this experience. This is a popular format as it puts your work experience front and center.
The combination resume format is best if you have gaps in your work history or are changing careers. This format focuses on both skills and experience.
Once you select the resume format you want to use, you can write the resume sections.
At the top of your resume is the header section containing all your contact information that the recruiter will need to reach you. Include your name, phone number and email address. You can also include your professional social media links, such as your LinkedIn profile. Ensure that all your information is correct before submitting your resume.
Next, you will write your resume summary. This section aims to provide recruiters with a brief and impressive summary of your skills, experience and accomplishments that make you the perfect candidate for their job posting. Here is an example of a leasing consultant’s resume summary:
“Seasoned leasing agent with five years of experience in the real estate industry. Assisted with resident retention programs with the property manager, which increased strong resident relations and higher occupancy rates.”
If you are changing careers you can opt to write a resume objective to discuss your goals and future endeavors in the position you are seeking.
Your skills section should relate directly to the leasing consultant skills listed in the job description. Take a note of these skills and add them to your resume. Here are some examples of common leasing consultant skills:

Your apartment leasing consultant resume will need a clear and concise work experience section that details relevant experience you have to the role. Many of the skills you need for a leasing consultant job are transferable. For example, if you have worked in a customer service role, you will likely have many of the desired soft skills, such as time management and problem-solving abilities.
When noting your work experience, list it in reverse-chronological order to ensure hiring managers can find your most relevant experience first.
Leasing agents normally have at least a high school diploma or GED. Some positions may require an associate degree with coursework in real estate. You may also have a real estate license in your resume, which you can usually achieve by completing a real estate licensing exam in your state.
