1. Review Your Personal Goals
Your professional goals and intentions are probably not what they were fifteen years ago. In order to assess the nature and extent of the change, you’ll have to do some soul searching. What do you want for yourself right now? How does your old resume fail to address these needs?
2. Don’t Just Add Your Latest Job
Add your latest job and then move down through your other previous positions. Take off the ones that are so outdated that they add nothing to your credibility.
3. Update Your Accomplishments
Check the accomplishments listed under each former position. These accomplishments may no longer seem as impressive as they used to. And if you pare down each list under each job from four bullets to two (or even none), all the better.
4. Tackle the Skills Section
How many outdated software systems have you included in your old skills section? Take out the old and add in the new and remember, some of your new skills may have been part of your tool kit for years. Don’t take these for granted or fail to mention them. Our resume resume generator has an easy-to-use resume builder. We recommend that you put it to good use to help improve your chances of landing an interview after updating your resume summary statement.
